Etsy recently released its very first Spring and Summer Trend Guide, based on the company's shopper search data.Here are nine trend predictions they think will hit in spring and summer 2024, and ways you can experiment with them.
Chef’s Kiss
Foodies and co*cktail enthusiasts, it's your time to shine. With the rise of popular shows like The Bear, culinary culture seems to be going more mainstream. Etsy predicts it’s only just heating up, with many shoppers now looking for more food, restaurant, and bar-inspired themes to not only include in their kitchen, but throughout the home and even in their wardrobe.
Modern Milestones
Etsy says shoppers are looking for special gifts on occasions beyond the traditional holidays. Now, we're seeing people celebrate milestones like their pet's "gotcha day", friendiversaries, and even divorces with unique gifts that help create a special moment of reflection and appreciation. Now is most definitely the time to get an upgraded friendship necklace with your BFF (just like you had when you were kids, only better).
Sports-Core
Sure, sports attire has never really gone out of style when it comes to showing some love for your favorite teams, but this year, the "sports-core" trend is more about expressing your passion for the hobby sports you play with friends, including tennis, golf, pickleball, or even lawn games (whether you call it cornhole or bags, it's fun either way). Bring out some old-school vintage jerseys or grab some new personalized gear to take to your next rec league game.
Time-Honored Textiles
Contemporary cool meets vintage chic with ‘time-honored textiles'. Etsy explains many shoppers are looking for quality items that give off that homemade feel, but with a modern touch. Anything from those comfy quilts your grandmother made you as a kid to those crochet styles you crave for festival season is making the cut for this trend.
Western 2.0
We’ve recently seen more Western items hit our closets thanks to Beyoncé and the ever-growing cowboy core trend, so Etsy’s prediction of the Western revival comes as no surprise. This look is all about mixing rugged and chic while staying true to its Western roots. Essential staples include leather, turquoise, denim, and so much fringe. You can wear these pieces separately or together—whatever your preference—and sometimes you can even score an item with two Western themes in one. But this look is not limited to only the items you wear. This trend is easy to incorporate in the home, too. The cowboy boot match striker below can be used as a ceramic planter or vase for your flowers, for example.
Creative Couples Portraits
Gone are the days of the more traditional wedding gifts, as 2024 is all about getting creative with what we give couples. This trend does it right by celebrating love with illustrated portraits that aren't limited to picture frames. Get creative with their portrait on plates, clothing, blankets, or even a custom vinyl record that can feature their photo on the sleeve and a personalized playlist dedicated to them.
Romcom Interiors
Social media is here to stay, but Etsy says not everyone wants to be reminded that they live in a digital era. Thanks to the ‘romcom interiors’ trend they don’t have to, as this look channels the 1990s and early 2000s. These super cozy and welcoming pieces will give you all the same feels as watching your favorite romcom from back in those days.
All-Out After Parties
Another wedding trend, all-out after parties include late-night drinks and snacks mixed with fun decor reminiscent of a disco. This trend is all about keeping the celebration going well after the more traditional wedding ceremony winds down, featuring disco balls galore and neon lights that remind you just who's party it is.
Garden Girl
Spring always calls for fresh flowers, but this year there’s a little more to it. We're with Etsy in declaring 2024 will be 'garden girl' summer, and we'll be incorporating floral motifs everywhere—not just in a vase or the garden. This trend includes all the frills, with pretty pastels, botanical designs, and vintage accessories.
