What to wear to the airshow? ›

Wear comfortable clothing and shoes suitable for walking on uneven surfaces, as most airshows take place on open fields or airport runways. Consider bringing layers, as the weather can change throughout the day. It is also a good idea to wear clothes in light colors to reflect sunlight and keep you cool.

Of course the best you can do is doubling up on your ear protection. If you are worried about hearing loss, ear plugs in addition to ear muffs are going to provide just about all the hearing protection you are likely to get. Unless you stay home. And that's no fun.

How much do tickets cost? The Charleston Airshow is free to the public, however every vehicle will require a free base pass to park on the installation.

How do you prepare for an air show? ›

For jets, aperture priority works best. I like to shoot at f/5.6 to f/8 and let the camera deal with shutter speed. For propeller planes, I like to use shutter priority with a speed of 1/25 second to 1/125 second so the props blur and the aircraft look like they're really flying, not hanging from a string.

Drink plenty of fluids throughout the day to avoid dehydration. Airshows are large events and guest must cover great distances to see all of the show. Plan to walk a great deal throughout the day and wear comfortable shoes. Do not hesitate to seek help, such as water or a short stay in a shaded area.

Wear layers

If your outdoor concert runs into the evening, you're going to want to layer up. Denim jackets are the perfect staple and go with almost everything. Shackets are super on-trend too! When in doubt, you can't go wrong with a long-sleeved, lightweight shirt – leave it unbuttoned over a tee or vest.

Dress in the way that expresses you the best, but above all, dress comfortably. As the tourism industry is all about exploring new horizons, your attire should reflect that spirit.

Layering and accessories are your best friend

That's why layers are key to comfortable flying, no matter the season. Bring a jacket, shawl, cardigan, or cozy socks as additional layers. Or, if you're wearing a dress or skirt, pop a pair of leggings in your carry-on to put on if the cabin gets cold.
