Egyptian Musk is a very popular scent, but recipes vary. The sort that I prefer is the 80’s version that was light, sweet, and simple. It was great worn alone, but also helped to soften other spicier scents, making them less “heavy” or “old lady”, and more youthful.

When it is blessed by Oshun, its already attractive attributes are magnified tenfold. This is what you want to be wearing to drive your potential partner crazy. It has something good for everybody, regardless of where they are in the gender spectrum. It’s good whether you’re trying to attract a man, woman, or someone somewhere in between.

Simple Egyptian Musk Essential Oil

  • 25 drops patchouli oil
  • 25 drops rose attar or absolute
  • 10 drops ambrette or 20 drops white musk oil

Complex Egyptian Musk Essential Oil

  • 5 drops frankincense oil
  • 5 drops myrrh oil
  • 20 drops rose oil
  • 20 drops patchouli oil
  • 10 drops jasmine oil
  • 10 drops amber oil
  • 1 and ONLY 1 drop of camphor oil
  • 10 drops ambrette or 20 drops white musk oil

If you can get ahold of some, deer musk grains or civet are a good addition. Labdanum will sweeten it considerably.

Egyptian Musk Infusion Oil

The ancient Egyptians did not have essential oils. So if you want to make something a bit more true to the origins, make it with:

  • a handful of dried rose petals
  • a handful of dried patchouli leaves
  • a handful of dried jasmine flowers
  • a handful of myrrh
  • a handful of frankincense
  • about half a liter of almond oil

Put the ingredients in a jar. Consecrate it, and ask Oshun to imbue it with attraction energy. Then let it head in a day’s sun. Then put it in a cool, dark place for 3 months.

I made the complex version but subbed Angelica for amberette because that’s what I had in hand. Had to leave out camphor but added 5 drops of labdanum. My husband loved it. Thanks so much. I have been trying to figure this out for years

Thank you for asking, Skylar 🙂 The best carrier oil for this depends on whether you want more charisma or invoke more of a deep sentiment. If you’re in a business situation or need charisma, almond oil is best. Not almond scented, but the regular oil of almonds normally used as a carrier oil that has almost no scent. If you want it to work better for stimulating emotions, for devotional purposes, or for seduction, use light olive oil. Fractionated coconut oil might be good if it’s a dressing for ancestor candles if one of their favorite scents was Egyptian Musk.

Blessings of good health and Ashe!

Are there brands of oils you prefer. There are so many on the market and they all have slightly different scents.

Hello! Thanks so much for sharing this recipe! I have been searching high and low (and wasted too much money) for the authentic Egyptian musk that we used to wear in the 80s and 90s – it would fill the room as soon as your body heat perked up! Question though for complex recipe, you name how many drops however what amount of carrier oil should we be using per these measurements?

Good question, Nella 🙂 Generally, for use on the skin as a perfume, this should be used as a 10% dilution. This means 10% of the volume can be the pure scented oils, and 90% should be the carrier oil. Different oils will have different features, so be mindful of this when you create your final product.

    Hello,

I’m having a hard time finding amber and ambrette oils. Any recommended sources? I have come across Amber scented fragrance oil, but nothing essential.

If you can’t find ambrette oil, use a light, sweet, floral such as a small amount more of jasmine. When I say small, I mean like the equivalent of dipping a toothpick in it per dram, and use white musk instead. Ambrette is more of a feature than a fragrance. So just a tiny bit more floral plus white musk would be a good enough substitute if it’s not for magickal purposes. If it is for magickal purpose, the only good equivalent I know is a tincture of deer musk.

Thank you for the question. 🙂
It depends how strong you want it to be and what you will be using it for. If you’re using it on the skin, use a 10% essential oil to 90% carrier oil blend. If it’s for an oil burner, it can be up to 50/50, though 20/80 is usually good enough for air freshening purposes.
