NEW YORK — Jean Philippe Fragrances has acquired the trademark for Aziza from Chesebrough-Pond’s USA, an operating unit of Unilever.
The terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
Aziza was a hypo-allergenic cosmetics line marketed by Chesebrough- Pond’s. At one time it was distributed in 17,000 mass market outlets.
Jean Madar, chairman of Jean Philippe, noted that the purchase of the Aziza trademark comes shortly after the company signed a licensing deal to manufacture and market Cutex nail and lip color products.
The acquisition is part of the company’s plan to expand into the mass market fragrance and cosmetics industry, Madar said.
Jean Philippe produces and distributes domestic and international brand name fragrances and cosmetics and knockoff designer fragrances.
