The Heaviest Pokemon, Ranked (2024)

The world of Pokemon is inhabited by fascinating creatures found throughout its landscape, waters, and skies. Both big and small, Pokemon are extraordinary creatures that share an uncanny bond with their trainer. Given their tremendous power capabilities, it's not surprising that some can weigh over 1,000 lbs. Bigger doesn't inherently mean more power, but it could indicate that they have special abilities.

The following Pokemon are among the heaviest in the Pokemon world. Many of them are from the newer generations, which could mean Pokemon's creators are designing more massive Pokemon.

Updated on August 15, 2024, by Andrew Scariati: Every Generation adds a large group of Pokemon to the mix, with some extremely heavy outliers joining the fray in Generation Nine. However, we go back in time to add an old favorite with a newer form that makes the list for the heaviest Pokemon.

29 Hoopa Unbound - 1080.3 lbs. (490.0 kg)

Hoopa comes in two forms: Confined and Unbound. You're probably more familiar with the Confined version, which is a Psychic/Ghost-Type. The Unbound version is a Psychic/Dark-Type.

Despite all the floating limbs, which we presume mean it doesn't need as many muscles, this enormous Legendary Pokemon weighs a hefty 1080.3 lbs. (490.0 kg).

28 Avalugg - 1113.3 lbs (505.0 kg)

The Heaviest Pokemon, Ranked (2)

Mildly less impressive than its cousin which sunk a certain famous boat, Avalugg is a tortoise creature made entirely of ice. The stolid, chilly Torterra was introduced during Generation Six (Pokemon X and Y) and weighs 1113.3 lbs (505.0 kg), which, is less than titanic.

Still, it's not exactly small. According to its numerous Pokedex entries, Avalugg's back is so big and flat that Bergmites, its pre-evolution, will often use it as a ferrying system. A prolonged, cold, slippery ferrying system but, whatever works!

27 Stonjourner - 1146.4 lbs (520.0 kg)

The Heaviest Pokemon, Ranked (3)

Continuing Nintendo's time-honored tradition of "Rock With Face On It" is Stonjourner, an adorable homage to Stone Henge. The leggy beast made its debut in Generation 8 (Pokemon Sword and Shield) which drew its inspiration from European cultures, so the Stone Henge thing kind of tracks.

Stonjourner clocks in at 1146.4 lbs (520.0 kg), which it uses to stand in fields, watching the sunset. Depending on your opinion of sentient stone golems, this is either endearing or terrifying.

Also, it's less curious than their Shield Pokedex entry, which claims that they gather in circles once a year to do nothing. Look, Stonjourner is going through some stuff, okay?

Metagross is one of the coolest pseudo-legendaries around, and makes a massive mark as one of the heaviest Pokemon.

The Pokedex entries, across the board, read like a horror blurb, saying that Metagross is the result of multiple Metangs fusing together.

That coupled with the fact that the entire evolutionary line is Steel/Psychic typed, the 1212.5 lbs (550.0 kg) weight starts to make sense. What still eludes explanation, however, is the horrifying truth that Metagross has a propensity for eating living things whole with its awful, gaping maw.

25 Zygarde (Complete Form) - 1344.8 lbs (610.0 kg)

The Heaviest Pokemon, Ranked (4)

Zygarde is the lamest Pokemon in that it forced children to learn how to work percentages, and the best in that it's a snake, a little puppy, or the seventeenth colossus - depending on the day. In its Complete form, this Generation Six (Pokemon Black and White) appears loosely humanoid, although it still retains its black and green armored veneer.

Zygarde Complete weighs in at 1344.8 lbs (610.0 kg), but don't worry about it feeling self-conscious. Should it grow tired of being bulky, it can shed the weight and revert back to its 50 percent or ten percent variations, making it the only Pokemon that can technically devolve.

24 Giratina (Origin Forme) - 1433.0 lbs (650.0 kg)

The Heaviest Pokemon, Ranked (6)

Giratina makes another appearance on this list a little later on (spoiler: it grows legs), but for now, the primary name on the Distortion World's lease weighs in at 1433.0 lbs (650.0 kg), so long as it's in its Origin Forme, at least.

According to its Pokedex entries, our snakey friend was banished for excessive violence, which shouldn't be surprising, considering Giratina has more spiky appendages than a Bionicle set. Maybe the Generation Four (Pokemon Diamond and Pearl) mascot gets friendlier when it grows stumpy little legs? We'll get back to that.

23 Copperajah - 1433.0 lbs (650.0 kg)

The Heaviest Pokemon, Ranked (7)

Copperajah was added with the release of Pokemon Sword and Shield. It's a Steel-type Pokemon that evolves from the adorable Cufant starting from level 34. Considering that this Pokemon was clearly inspired by an elephant, it's no surprise that it weighs quite a lot, coming in at a staggering 1433.0 lbs (650.0 kg).

Copperajah also has a Gigantamax form, making it even larger, but there is no known listing for its weight when Gigantamaxed, nor any of the other Gigantamax Pokemon either. Abilities, on the other hand, can affect a Pokemon's weight.

22 Dialga - 1505.8 lbs (683.0 kg)

The Heaviest Pokemon, Ranked (8)

Dialga is one of the legendary Pokemon that was added to Generation Four with the release of Pokemon Diamond and Pearl. It is a dual-type Steel/Dragon Legendary Pokemon and was the mascot for the Diamond version of the game.

Dialga weighs 1505.8 lbs. (683.0 kg), which is considerably more than its Pearl counterpart Palkia, which weighs only 740.8 lbs. (336.0 kg). Dialga's steel typing likely makes its weight more considerable and unsurprisingly, it's not the only Steel-type among the heaviest Pokemon.

21 Ting-Lu 1542.6 lbs. (699.7 kg)

The Heaviest Pokemon, Ranked (9)

Ting-Lu is a Legendary Dark/Ground-Type Pokemon from Pokemon Scarlet and Violet and makes a splash as one of the new inclusions from Generation Nine to feature among the heaviest Pokemon.

Entei's storied history features some Pokemon TCG gems.

It's not a big surprise that this is a heavy one because it's carrying its enormous ritual vessel around on its head! Fun fact: the Pokemon is a ritual vessel, and the body beneath it has been constructed to help it move.

It can even creature fissures 160 feet deep.

20 Cetitan - 1543.2 lbs (700 kg)

The Heaviest Pokemon, Ranked (11)

Cetitan is an Ice-Type Pokemon that was introduced in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet! It's a Cetacean (which is where it gets its name from), which puts it in the same family as whales and dolphins.

It's not the heaviest Pokemon, but it's certainly up there! This bad boy weighs 1543.2 lbs (700 kg). That's nothing to sneeze at when you consider how much you can bench-press.

The Heaviest Pokemon, Ranked (12)

Aggron, Hoenn's steel-type titan, is surprisingly not that heavy in the grand scheme of things. It isn't even the heaviest Pokemon in its own game normally, being outweighed by Metagross and Wailord. It may be big, but it still isn't that heavy.

However, in Sword and Shield, Aggron was given a new ability: Heavy Metal. This doubles the Pokemon's weight for weight-based calculations. This bumps Aggron up well into the highest weight class, although it still doesn't quite clear the barrier of entry for other Pokemon. Mega Steelix is also still heavier at 1631.4 lbs (740.0 kg), but Mega Evolutions wouldn't be as fun to add to the list.

18 Mega Steelix - 1631.4 lbs (740.0 kg)

The Heaviest Pokemon, Ranked (13)

Steelix is a dual-type Steel/Ground Pokemon that evolves from Onix when it is traded while holding the Metal Coat evolutionary item. The normal version of Steelix is a paltry weight compared to other Pokemon, weighing in at just 881.8 lbs. (400.0 kg).

However, when Mega Evolutions were added in Generation Six, Steelix received a new form that put its new weight up to 1,631.4 lbs. (740.0 kg). Players can evolve their Steelix into Mega Steelix by using the Steelixite item.

17 Altered Forme Giratina — 1653.5 lbs (750.0 kg)

The Heaviest Pokemon, Ranked (14)

Giratina, the box legendary of Pokemon Platinum, comes in two flavors. The special flavor is Origin Forme, where Giratina loses its legs and over 200 lbs (90.7 kg). The Altered Forme, found in both Platinum and the original Diamond and Pearl, clocks in just enough to squeeze its way onto the list.

Interestingly, although Altered Forme Giratina weighs more, Origin Forme is taller.

Additionally, Giratina certainly looks different compared to its leaked beta design. It's hard to tell if it would've shared the same weight if it had its original design.

16 Crowned Shield Zamazenta - 1730.6 lbs (785.0 kg)

Zamazenta, the box legendary of Pokemon Shield version, isn't that heavy as just a wolf. Its sibling, Zacian, is also around half of Zamazenta's base weight. However, nobody cared who Zamazenta was before it put on the mask (and shield).

With this sturdy steel shield, Zamazenta gains just under 1300 lbs (589.67 kg). The shield it carries is apparently heavier than many legendary Pokemon. The shield alone is heavier than Crowned Sword Zacian. It's a miracle that Zamazenta can carry metal that dense, but perhaps it's a well-balanced shield. That leaves a question of just how strong Hop/the player is for carrying its rusted form.

The Heaviest Pokemon, Ranked (16)

If you're one of the many people who are still watching the Pokemon anime, you may recognize this mythical Steel-type Pokemon. We are, of course, referring to Melmetal, one of the heaviest Pokemon in existence. As part of Ash's team, Meltan combined with another to form a Melmetal during the Manalo Conference finals!

At a whopping 1763.7 lbs (800 kg), Melmetal has a body that is made mostly of liquid metal. Its hexagonal nuts keep it from falling apart. At the end of its life, Melmetal falls apart and reverts into Meltan.

14 Glastrier - 1763.7 lbs (800.0 kg)

The Heaviest Pokemon, Ranked (17)

Glastrier was one of the new legendary Pokemon added with the release of The Crown Tundra DLC and is a rather awesome Ice-type horse. It doesn't evolve into any other form, however, it can fuse with Calyrex, which we'll get into next.

Glastrier is pretty weighty, not that it compares to Mudslade when considering the weight of other horse Pokemon, but it does weigh 1763.7 lbs. (800.0 kg), which makes it one of the heaviest Pokemon to date and heavier than its Crown Tundra counterpart Spectrier.

13 Ice Rider Calyrex - 1783.8 lbs (809.1 kg)

The Heaviest Pokemon, Ranked (18)

Calyrex is one of the latest Legendary Pokemon to be added as it debuted with the release of The Crown Tundra DLC for Sword and Shield. This Psychic/Grass Pokemon doesn't evolve, but it does have two additional forms.

12 Stakataka - 1807.8 lbs (820.0 kg)

This Ultra Beast is recognized by the code name UB Assembly, but it is better known as Stakataka. As its name implies, Stakataka consists of stacks of gray stone. The gray stones that it is made up of are life forms with glowing blue eyes. These eyes can change color when the Pokemon is startled or in a battle.

Stakataka is the heaviest Rock-type Pokemon that we've discovered thus far. It has a tremendous weight of 1807.8 lbs (820.0 kg), which is not surprising considering its colossal size.

11 Origin Form Dialga - 1,871.00 lbs (848.7 kg)

Dialga appears among the heaviest Pokemon again, this time in its bulky Origin Form, which gives Dialga (and its counterpart, Palkia) elongated, tree-trunk-sized legs. This massive legendary stakes its claim as one of the heaviest Pokemon, with two appearances to bolster its argument.

While the designs are a huge shift away from the originals, the sheer size of these Pokemon is impressive, as Dialga cements its spot among the heaviest Pokemon of all time.

10 Guzzlord - 1957.7 lbs (888.0 kg)

The Heaviest Pokemon, Ranked (20)

This Pokemon guzzles almost anything in sight. There are reports of Guzzlord swallowing mountains whole. Interestingly enough, Guzzlord is the heaviest Dark-type in existence, and one of the most massive Dragon-type Pokemon.

In appearance, Guzzlord can be quite frightening. As a Pokemon that weighs 1957.7 lbs (888.0 kg), it has a long tongue that moves in a waving motion to suck up food. Even with its enormous appetite, no one has ever found droppings left from a Guzzlord.
